The KIBS 50th Anniversary Symposium
"The Future of Buddhism and the Path of Buddhists"

A symposium commemorating the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Korean Institute for Buddhist Studies will be held on November 1 at the Korean Buddhist History and Culture Center, Jogyesa. This symposium will explore the future of Buddhism in an era when the majority no longer believe in any religion and what Buddhists should do to preserve and transmit Buddhist teachings beyond denominational/sectarian boundaries to future generations. It consists of the lectures by the following five speakers under the main theme.

• Lee Min-yong (Former Director, KIBS; Chair, Korean Institute for Religion and Culture) -
"What Kind of Buddhism Can We Follow Today?"
• Kwon Seok-man (Professor Emeritus, Seoul National University) -
"A Mutually-Beneficial Convergence of Buddhism and Psychology: Psychological Interpretation of the Four Noble Truths"
• Yang Hyeong-jin (Professor Emeritus, Korea University) -
"Relativity and the World as It Appears to Me"
• Seong Tae-yong (Professor Emeritus, Konkuk University) -
"Buddhism with Open Eyes and Walking Feet"
• Ven. Myeopbeop (Director, Gugil-am, Haeinsa) -
"The Reality and Future of Korean Buddhism after the Pandemic"
